Last night as all the networks went to coverage of the non-event known as the Obama immaginatry State of the Union, KCAL Channel 9 stayed with wal to wall heartwarming coverage of Christopher Jordan Dorner.
As Obama droned on from the teleprompter, millions switched to KCAL for more Dorner coverage.
Dorner, a Ramboesque, legend, had just homesteaded a snow-covered cabin in Big Bear, when the full force of the government assault began. As the battle raged and the cabin was torched, people remembered Dorner for his fight for racial justice, administrative fairness in police discipline hearings and against the overwhelming forces of government.
Both Obama and Dorner had their 15 minutes of fame, but Dorner’s turned out bigger.
