Tom rages at DoD: “Why in the hell have we paid the terrorist Major Hasan $278K in salary?”

Tom had to be pried from the walls today when he learned that the Department of Defense (DoD) has the terrorist Major Nadal Hasan on Administrative Leave and have paid him $278K since his murderous rampage at Ft. Hood in 2009 that killed 13 and injured 32.

The Army is hiding behind some law that say they need to pay until conviction.  Well laws can be changed.  Has anybody ever tried to correct this injustice?

Come on, this is absurd.

  1. Hmmm. . .I wonder if an enlisted man who did the same would still be receiving pay? He should have been stripped of his rank already too.

Hard to believe that he didn’t do something wrong so he could be Dishonorably Discharged” There doesn’t seem to be any rush to have a trial.

  2. I get the concept of “innocent until proven guilty”, but that money should ONLY be available for legal expenses, if at all, considering the Army is still housing, clothing, and feeding this guy. I’ve always been bugged by the idea of “paid administrative leave”. If you think the person, be it cops or soldiers or whomever, is so unfit to serve that you suspend them, then STOP THEIR PAY!
(Yeah, I know, I’m being my usual annoying, intolerable, common-sense-ical self. Sorry! 😉 )

I am with you. We should be able to fire somebody for misconduct short of a murder conviction. If he his found innocnet (not guilty) at trial, you could reinstate with back pay.
